JOHOR BARU: Johor Corp (JCorp)’s subsidiary Johor Land Bhd (JLand) is planning to start the development of the Sedenak Technology Valley with the Discovery City project next year.
JLand executive director Mohd Yusof Ahmad said that the 325-acre (131 hectares) pilot phase development is expected to start in the third quarter in Sedenak, Kulai, he said.
“The Discovery City will be equipped with amenities that will serve as an attraction park for the Sedenak Technology Valley.
“The Sedenak Technology Valley is a 7,290-acre (2,950 hectares) integrated development which will incorporate digital technologies and be in line with the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after the JLand new logo unveiling ceremony and Next Chapter for JLand event at the Dewan Kompleks Mutiara, Bandar Dato’ Onn, here on Monday (Aug 22).
JLand will also be refocusing its strategic plans for some of its flagship development projects in the state to coincide with JLand's 50th anniversary, he added.
“Bandar Tiram township will see the development of 28 acres (11 hectares) of Tebing@Bandar Tiram by early 2023, emulating the nature-inspired, enterprise-friendly, and community-centric elements.

“Bandar Dato' Onn will also undergo re-master planning to augment its proposition as a wellness destination for all lifestyles and lifecycles, alongside a new development for Green Landed Residences in 2024.
“As part of our ESG initiative, we are also aiming for our townships to be certified as Low Carbon Cities with a reduction of 25% in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2025,” he explained.
JLand will also spur urban rejuvenation initiatives for Arena Larkin, a 235-acre (95 hectares) next-generation urban hub in the Larkin District, he added.
“Key projects include the development of Central Park, such as the commercial and retail hub by the second quarter of 2024, Iconic Towers, serviced apartments and small office or home office (SOHO) by the first quarter of 2025,” said Mohd Yusof.
Meanwhile, JCorp president and chief executive Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim in his speech said that it is vital for the company to continue to seize the opportunities that lie ahead to ensure JLand's sustainability for years to come.
“I urge you to reimagine a new JLand. To future-proof JLand. To ensure that JCorp via Johor Land will be able to further contribute to the economic development of the State while maintaining the entrepreneurial spirit that has driven Johor Land's success.
“We must pave the next generation of communities. We are shaping the space, environment, and lifestyle for families. Inclusivity and sustainability remain at the heart of the developments that we embark on, with a clear aim to create smart solutions curated for our customers' evolving needs,” he said.
